Next trip

So after being in China for a little bit, it made me realize I need to learn a language or two if I’m going to be competitive in this world. It sucked going everywhere and not knowing what the simplest of things said. I was scared to get certain things at the grocery store because I had no idea what it said. My next trip I’ll be heading to Ecuador to learn Spanish for 3 months. I’ll be leaving next month as I need to make sure everything is alright with my family first.

I found a private tutor that comes highly recommended for 20 hours per week for $8/hour. So $160/week for language lessons. I rented an apartment on AirBnB.com¬†for $211/month total cost of $635 after fees. I’ll be flying United straight through to Quito with no layovers for a cost of $542. I’ll just have to buy food, transportation, and whatever activities I want to do. They use the dollar so no exchanging money.

I’m super excited and I’ve been joking with my dad that I’ll be able to press 2 on the phone when I come back.

I also wanted to hop over to Brazil to learn Portuguese since it’s relatively easy to learn after Spanish but I need to apply for a visa there’s no easy way to get there from Quito. A flight back there would be $800+ and just not worth it. Maybe I can take up some Skype classes to add another language to my resume.

China Driving

Well China didn’t work out for me. I had an awful sickness that just wouldn’t go away. I snuck out during the holidays so I wouldn’t have to pay back anything. I’ll leave you with this crazy driving video. This video doesn’t show it all and I wish it did. We were swerving in and out of traffic. I’m now in Houston staying with my sister helping her out along with my parents. My mother needs my help too.

First Class

It’s been a while since I’ve posted…I know! I’ve been ridiculously sick and just can’t get right. I might be coming back home as I can’t seem to get well. Thank goodness I only work 3 days/week and have 4 days off. I haven’t been able to do anything. I’ll leave the first week of October as to not look too suspicious as that is the holiday week. Anyhoo here’s my experience in first class on United…

The experience was very nice. You get to check in at the airport in a special line and you get an extra piece of luggage with a 70lb weight limit instead of the normal 50lbs. You get to board second which makes no sense as Premier gets to go first. You walk onto the plane and they direct you to your seat. They have lots of places to stick your belongings ad you get your own overhead bin. You get a TV, headphones, USB outlet, and regular power outlet. You also get a toiletry box with socks, toothbrush, lotion, wet wipes and a few other things. They give you two blankets, plenty of pillows, and a mattress to lay on which makes the seat way more comfortable.

After putting my luggage up I was asked for my drink choice before the flight took off. I chose¬†Courvoisier as I’ve never had it. I don’t drink much just wine so I said whatever the hell! In first class they also have an extra seat belt that goes across your chest. Guess they’re more important lol.

I chose my meals for the flight and had plenty of red wine. I got warm nuts before my first meal. First meal was Chinese chicken noodle which was delicious. I got a salad, fruit, cheese and crackers. I also got shrimp but I don’t eat it so passed. It was really too much food and I couldn’t eat it all. I couldn’t complain at all about the food choices I made. After all that I was ready to go to sleep. The flight attendant came and made my bed for me.

I slept for about 4 hours the first time and then woke up to read and watch tv. I watched Barbershop which I was happy about as they actually had a Black film available. Went back to sleep some more and by the time I woke up it was time to land.

From what I hear American flights in first class suck so bad so I’ll have fly on an international carrier one day to compare. As for now that’s my first long haul first class flight and it was delightful. I couldn’t imagine flying 12 hours in economy sitting straight up. I was so stress free and relaxed after getting off the plane. I felt great. Check out my food pics and inside the cabin…
