First Class

It’s been a while since I’ve posted…I know! I’ve been ridiculously sick and just can’t get right. I might be coming back home as I can’t seem to get well. Thank goodness I only work 3 days/week and have 4 days off. I haven’t been able to do anything. I’ll leave the first week of October as to not look too suspicious as that is the holiday week. Anyhoo here’s my experience in first class on United…

The experience was very nice. You get to check in at the airport in a special line and you get an extra piece of luggage with a 70lb weight limit instead of the normal 50lbs. You get to board second which makes no sense as Premier gets to go first. You walk onto the plane and they direct you to your seat. They have lots of places to stick your belongings ad you get your own overhead bin. You get a TV, headphones, USB outlet, and regular power outlet. You also get a toiletry box with socks, toothbrush, lotion, wet wipes and a few other things. They give you two blankets, plenty of pillows, and a mattress to lay on which makes the seat way more comfortable.

After putting my luggage up I was asked for my drink choice before the flight took off. I chose┬áCourvoisier as I’ve never had it. I don’t drink much just wine so I said whatever the hell! In first class they also have an extra seat belt that goes across your chest. Guess they’re more important lol.

I chose my meals for the flight and had plenty of red wine. I got warm nuts before my first meal. First meal was Chinese chicken noodle which was delicious. I got a salad, fruit, cheese and crackers. I also got shrimp but I don’t eat it so passed. It was really too much food and I couldn’t eat it all. I couldn’t complain at all about the food choices I made. After all that I was ready to go to sleep. The flight attendant came and made my bed for me.

I slept for about 4 hours the first time and then woke up to read and watch tv. I watched Barbershop which I was happy about as they actually had a Black film available. Went back to sleep some more and by the time I woke up it was time to land.

From what I hear American flights in first class suck so bad so I’ll have fly on an international carrier one day to compare. As for now that’s my first long haul first class flight and it was delightful. I couldn’t imagine flying 12 hours in economy sitting straight up. I was so stress free and relaxed after getting off the plane. I felt great. Check out my food pics and inside the cabin…

Langham Hotel Beijing

I stayed at the Langham Hotel in Beijing which is right next to the airport when I arrived from my 12 hour flight from San Francisco. It was ridiculously nice and you would never get that in the US for what you pay. Thanks to Expedia I paid $131.76 with a $25.00 off coupon. Regular price was $156.76. I didn’t add on the breakfast and definitely should have so instead I paid an extra 193 yuan (about $29) at check in.

There was a person to help me carry my luggage upstairs. I also wigged out about their key card system as I had never seen it before. You stick your card into the wall and it turns everything on. I’m wondering why the guy was asking for my key card and removed it out of the wall. Of course nothing worked in the room until 10 minutes later when I figured out the key card HAS to stay in the wall.

I immediately went to go take a shower after figuring out the room system. The bathroom was simple yet elegant. I did find a stray hair on the bathroom wall though. The shower was nice and hot which is always a good thing. I didn’t even think to turn on the TV to see what was showing as I’m not a TV person.

The bed was very comfortable and more so for Chinese standards as their beds are hard as bricks. The internet connection was decent but nothing quick and speedy like back in the US. I tried my hardest to stay up until 9pm China time but made it until 8:30pm and knocked out. Woke back up around 1:30am and didn’t go back to sleep. Decided to get up and get dressed to head on the next leg of the trip.

Breakfast was too good. Lots of variety and American foods available. I decided on fruit, hash browns, and a big bowl of noodle soup that you can add whatever you like in it. The soup was delicious. I wish I could have another bowl as we speak.

Overall I give the hotel a 10/10. It was a very pleasant experience.
